In ancient China, having a good military and a big navy was very much needed and was very valuable. They wanted this as they were a country that used to get attacked very much. They would always be attacked because of all of the land they ruled. They fought for unification, expansion and for the defence of their country. They first started by making little villages near the rivers, and then, one-by-one, they conquered more and more places and ended up creating cities. The people of these cities would be part of the big navies and armies. The river valley was the oldest and largest civilization of military that is still continuing.
Battle of Banquan In ancient China, there were many battles. One of their most historic battle are the Battle of Banquan. This battle was held in Banquan. This was the battle between Huangdi, the yellow emperor, and Yandi, the flame emperor. It was one of the first battles recorded in Chinese history. It was said to be the third of a series of battles. This battle was held in 2500 BC. The final result was the the yellow emperor, Huangdi, had won over the land of Banquan. This resulted in the formation of the Huaxia tribe. That tribe was the head of the Han Chinese civilization.
In the military,they had many weapons. Here are some that the Ancient Chinese would use:
Gong- A type of bow.
Qiang- A type of spear.
Jian- A type of sword.
Dun- A shield.
Yue- A weapon that is in the shape of an axe.
Nu- A crossbow.
Dao- A knife.
Gun- A staff.
Fu- An axe.
Ji- A spear used for throwing and short distance stabbing.
